Winter Birch Tree

Accordion Books: Student learned calligraphy and then created a Haiku using their
knowledge. They finished their art with a Japanese painting. After their work
dried we
folded it into an accordion and added printed paper covers to the ends.

Grazing Bison
1) Create a simple background using tempera paint
2) Instruct the student on how to create a Bison using mainly circles and cylinders
3) Color the bison with crayons or oil pastels
4) Cut out the Bison and glue them to your landscape

Giant Color Mixing Bugs
Giant Color Mixing Bugs
It my Art book I have mini color mixing bugs but this one in made from an 9x12 paper and shows the student's what happens when all three colors are mixed.
1) Fold at 9X12 paper in half
2) Place dote of all three primary colors inside on the fold
3) Squash the paper
4) Open the paper and let it dry
5) Cut out the bug and mount it to another paper
6) Add detail with crayon
I have used this in conjunction with Eric Carle's Hungary Caterpillar
1) Trace the child's coloring it with marker.
2) Paint tempera paint around for land and sky
3) Add cut paper leaves
3) Detail to tree and bird with crayon
