Winter Self- Portrait
1) Step-by-step draw a portrait with hat, scarf and coat in pencil
2) Outline in crayon
3) Color in, in crayon
4) Paint the background with watercolor paint in any color but the colors used while coloring

1) Trace a circle for the head
2) Trace a larger circle "behind" the head for the body
3) Trace a smaller circle twice "behind" the head for the ears
4) Use that same small circle to trace for the eyes and nose
5) Add triangle shapes for stripes
6) Color tiger in oil pastel
7) Paint background in watercolor
8) Glue stick pieces of green tissue paper on to the sides for tall grass

Giant Color Mixing Bugs
It my Art book I have mini color mixing bugs but this one in made from an 9x12 paper and shows the student's what happens when all three colors are mixed.
1) Fold at 9X12 paper in half
2) Place dote of all three primary colors inside on the fold
3) Squash the paper
4) Open the paper and let it dry
5) Cut out the bug and mount it to another paper
6) Add detail with crayon
I have used this in conjunction with Eric Carle's Hungary Caterpillar
Rainbow Fish
1) Trace oval template for body
2) Draw tail, side fins, lips, scales, eye and other detail
3) Add seaweed and other background elements
4) Outline in sharpie
5) Color fish and seaweed in crayon
6) Paint water in blue watercolor
1) Trace the child's coloring it with marker.
2) Paint tempera paint around for land and sky
3) Add cut paper leaves
3) Detail to tree and bird with crayon
